Community

I am active in the Belgian Community since 2006 when I joined the Be-Com (Belgian E-Communications User Group, formerly known as “Pro-Exchange”, “Pro-Lync” & “Pro-Office365”) community as one of the first User Group Leads. Next to my work in the User Group, I write articles for our blog and several other tech websites and try to help as many people as possible in the Unified Communications Forums on TechNet.

About Be-Com

The primary goal of the Belgian E-Communications Community is to be the central meeting point for all E-Communications knowledge in Belgium. E-Communications is a very broad term, and for us, it is closely related to Microsoft’s technologies in that area. More specifically, we cover topics such as Office 365, Exchange Server and Skype for Business. Our two main channels are the be-com website, through which we post our articles, and the in-person events which are organized a few times a year. If you are interested in attending these in-person events, enroll for our mailing list using the form on the be-com website. If you have any comments or ideas, feel free to get in touch with us. After all, that is what a User Group is all about: sharing knowledge and experiences!

Speaking engagements

For some time now I have been talking passionately about Lync and Skype for Business at Community Events such as TechDays, LyncDay, TechED Europe, TechED US, Lync Conference and Microsoft Ignite.

About

Personally

I was born (1974) and raised in a very small village Kiezegem that is located almost right in the middle of Leuven, Diest, Tienen and Aarschot, also named "Het Hageland" and is located in (Vlaams) Brabant. One of the most famous Belgians is born there as well Eddy Merckx who recently was celebrated in our village by honoring him with a statue.

I love cycling with my Mountain bike and Race bike, when I get the chance and the weather is good or fair (it's still Belgium) I'll go for a spin. I am active in our local community organizing a yearly fair for people to have great fun and party.

Professionally

For more than 12 years I worked at Simac ICT Belgium where I started out as a System Engineer working on Windows NT and Exchange Server projects. Some years later I became responsible as a supervisor for all the Exchange engineers and moved on to being a Support Engineer handling more complex Microsoft projects. After that I moved to the Presales Department and For more than 3 years I enjoyed working as a Presales Consultant for the Systems and Security division where the main focus was on Unified Communications including Microsoft products like Exchange Server, Office Communications server, Lync Server 2010 and Office 365 with supporting technologies like Active Directory and security products.

In 2010 I took on a new opportunity at Ordina Belgium as Competence Center Lead, Architect and Trainer for Unified Communications & Collaborations. My main work focused around developing an internal UCC community, building out a UCC practice, doing pre-sales work, architecting UCC projects and delivering training for Ordina's own training center and Microsoft for the Partner Ignite Trainings.

In the beginning of 2015 I started my own company “idelimon BVBA” where I am working for large international System Integrators and Hosting Companies. My primary work is centered around Skype for Business, Office 365, Enterprise Architecture, Business Development and Technical Leadership.

I am also active in the Belgian Community since 2006 when I joined the Be-Com (Belgian E-Communications User Group, formerly known as “Pro-Exchange”, “Pro-Lync” & “Pro-Office365”) community as one of the first User Group Leads. Next to my work in the User Group, I writes articles for our blog and several other tech websites and try to help as many people as possible in the Unified Communications Forums on TechNet.

For some time now I have been talking passionately about Lync and Skype for Business at Community Events such as TechDays, LyncDay, TechED Europe, TechED US, Lync Conference and Microsoft Ignite.

In October 2008 I was awarded as an MVP for Exchange Server and moved on to become an MVP for Office Communications Server in 2009, Lync Server in 2010, Skype for Business.in 2014 and I has been re-awarded every year since — most recently in 2017 as an MVP for Office Servers and Services

As one of the few people, world-wide, I am proud to have achieved the Microsoft Certified Master (MCM) Certification for Lync 2010 back in 2012 (This highly technical training unfortunately no longer exists, but the few who earned their title will forever be Master)

You can follow Johan on Twitter or connect with him on LinkedIn. His public MVP profile can be viewed here.
